Book Flood

We've been hearing a lot recently about the Icelandic tradition of giving books on Christmas Eve: Jolabokaflod. You don't have to be Icelandic or celebrate Christmas to join in the spirit of this tradition. For a frugal variation, consider borrowing a stack of great books from the library and wrapping them. Invite your child to choose a wrapped book from the pile to make your everyday story time an exciting literacy-laden surprise.
